About Billy Rivers & the Angelic Voices of Faith
Memphis has long been known as a stronghold for Southern Gospel music, and that tradition and spirit is embodied in its best form by Billy Rivers & the Angelic Voices of Faith.
Founded in 1979, the group's sole purpose is to render praise to God through singing. Consisting of approximately 45 members from different churches and denominations throughout Memphis, this group has become one of the most outstanding community choirs in the South.
Their accomplishments speak for themselves. The Angelic Voices of Faith have shared the stage with renowned artists like Kirk Franklin, Bobby Jones, John P. Kee, Marvin Winans, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, and Dottie Peoples. They've also recorded with the Canton Spirituals and Andrew Cheers and the Gospel Songbirds.
In 1993, the group was nominated for a Stellar Award for Best New Artist with their first album, A Gift to You. Their second album, Getting Ready, reached Billboard's Top 40 and remained there for 10 weeks. In 1999, Minister Billy Rivers and the Angelic Voices of Faith joined the High Stacks Records family and celebrated their 20th year with the release of their third album, Gotta Lift Him.
Billy Rivers & the Angelic Voices of Faith can present this great gospel tradition in a variety of configurations. They can perform in an 8-person or 16-person ensemble both a capella and with keyboard or tracks accompaniment. With a full gospel band, they can appear in both 8-person and 16-person ensembles, as well as a magnificent 30-person choir.
In any configuration, they will send shivers down your spine with their harmonies, energy, and faith.
