About Black Rock Revival
Black Rock Revival takes the best of the Memphis groove and combines it with up-tempo, heavy, pure rock 'n roll music. Sebastian, the lead singer and guitarist, writes most of the band's songs. Hype is a 20+ year veteran of the drums, and Blue plays bass and sings background vocals.
While rock 'n roll is the melodic heartbeat of America, there are few rock bands in the United States that are predominantly African American. Black Rock Revival, hailing from the cradle of blues, soul, and rock, is reviving rock from a black perspective, channeling rock legends like Jimi Hendrix, Prince, Lenny Kravitz, the Roots, and even Zeppelin, Springsteen, and the Foo Fighters.
This power trio calls its sound Ghetto Soul Rock, which they developed by taking the stimuli of their childhood environment – daily subjects and occurrences they witnessed in the ghetto — and merging them with their musical influences: 60’s and 70’s funk and rock.
Even in our modern days of racial progress and understanding, the band has experienced racism but refuses to let bigotry interrupt the flow of their sound and mission. They continue to play hard, funky, and lose during live performances and deliver a style of rock music that has a distinguishing groove.
