About Shannon McNally

Shannon McNally conjures ghosts and heroines, thieves, lovers and redeemers in a transcendent folk-blues, country-rock moonshine she's been pulling straight from the still for nearly 20 years. She's been living in the deep South for 15 years, first in New Orleans, then the North Mississippi Hill Country.

Her last recording, Small Town Talk, is a loving tribute to the late Bobby Charles, conceived and created with the great Dr. John at a studio deep in the Louisiana bayou. Off Beat Magazine nominated the collection for Album of the Year in 2014.

Shannon McNally has released ten albums, been nominated for a Grammy, and performed with a Who's Who of rock, country, and soul: Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Vince Gill, Levon Helm, Charlie Sexton, Dr. John, Rufus Wainwright, Anders Osbourne, Luther and Cody Dickinson, Greg Leisz, Derek Trucks, and many more.

Top Reviews for Shannon McNally

"Shannon McNally has the voice: bruised, smokey and ornery, right at home where country and soul meet. She has the melodies and the timing. She’s irresistible." - The New York Times

"Shannon McNally's own supple drawl has a sneaky sort of magnetism to it; her singing seems to conceal just as much as it reveals." - Nashville Scene

"Every so often — but not too often, so that you stop noticing when it happens — someone comes along who makes music so easy and natural and affecting that, for a few blissful moments of escape, you stop thinking about music as a business where careers are bought and sold. There’s just that moment of recognition where artist and audience meet each other head on and the world feels perfect. Shannon McNally’s set — where her lived-in, groove-laden songs bridged pop, country, soul, and rootsy FM rock — had that effect on me." - Boston Phoenix

"Although Shannon McNally is a Long Island, NY native, her voice is a blend of Lucinda Williams and Lou Ann Barton, a Texas twang hanging out all over the place." - No Depression

"Shannon McNally distills both country and soul in her deeply felt brand of Americana music. Her voice brims with the ache, longing and resolve such songs require." - | The Times-Picayune
