About Wild Magnolias
Resource Entertainment has had the pleasure of booking the Wild Magnolias several times in Memphis and around the south.
New Orleans' sensuous delights converge in the rich tradition of the Mardi Gras Indians, working-class groups that are part secret society and part neighborhood social club. With irresistible rhythms and stunning costumes, the Indians unleash a sensory barrage that epitomizes the Crescent City. Among the city's many Indian tribes, none exceeds the talent and flamboyance of the Wild Magnolias.
In 1970, the Wild Magnolias recorded a hit single "Handa Wanda", which remains a local favorite and a perennial Mardi Gras classic. Their international reputation was enhanced with two mid-70's albums that combined the tribe's deep folk roots with New Orleans funk. Subsequent appearances on Rounder Records and constant live shows — Jazz Fest, Mardi Gras parades, Tipitinas, and festivals around the world — have cemented the Wild Magnolias' legacy in New Orleans' cultural scene.
If you want to bring that true New Orleans' joie de vivre to your next event, book the Wild Magnolias.
