Mighty Mississippi's Mighty Run
In 2012 Resource got wind that our old friends Steve Azar and Wesley Smith were brewing up a festival idea for Greenville, MS. With a dedicated and resourceful local fundraising and management team, a great ethos towards making things work, and an idea for a top-flight event in the heart of the Delta, the Resource team really wanted to be part of the event. We were honored to be tapped to be part of that group, and for six years, Mighty Mississippi was a high point of our festival season.
In Year One the festival was hit with 5.5" of rain on Friday night, necessitating cancellation of the headliner, North Mississippi All-Stars. But even with that deluge, the Resource team had the main stage running on time the next morning "after the flood".
Resource handled staging and production for both the Mighty Blues Stage and the Mighty Main Stage. Since the entire festival was powered by generators, Resource managed all generator power and power distribution.
In Year Three, Resource was appointed Talent Buyer for the festival working in consultation with the management team. In an impressive three year streak, Mighty Mississippi featured artists who later that year won ACM Best New Artist Awards - Chris Stapleton (2016), Maren Morris (2017) and Ashley McBryde (2018).
Featuring the best Americana, Country and Blues music to hit the Delta, as well as the loveliest backstage in America, the MMMF connected Mississippi with a wide range of genres that emerged in the State.
