Lyle Lovett Goes Full Roadhouse Mode
Lyle had finished his contractual obligation. He had played a 75-minute show full of his awesome songs, and he had done it with half the room constantly drinking and talking. Like back in his Texas Road House days.
And he was totally into it.
So he came out for an encore. And he said to the man of the hour, who was draped over a stage monitor,
"Duncan, you have a lot of great friends here tonight. It must be great to be your friend. I'm going to play you a song I wrote about a good friend of mine." And he launched into "This Old Porch"
And if we still remember that moment, you can bet your bottom dollar Duncan does, too. And that's what makes it all magic!
